How to Care for a Tweed Hoodie — Washing & Maintenance Guide
1. Wash
Hand-wash cold.
Tweed stays stable and keeps its structure when washed gently in cold water.
Machine option: delicate cycle, inside-out, inside a laundry bag.
2. Detergent
Use mild detergent only.
Harsh products strip the fabric, making tweed rough and weak over time.
3. No Bleach
Bleach breaks down tweed fibers and fades the color quickly. Even “color-safe” products are risky.
4. Drying
Do not tumble dry.
Heat shrinks tweed and destroys the texture.
Dry flat on a clean towel to maintain the hoodie’s shape.
5. Steam / Iron
Light steam only.
This refreshes the fabric without crushing it.
If ironing is necessary: low heat + cloth on top.
6. Storage
Fold, don’t hang.
Tweed can stretch when hung for long periods.
Keep it in a dry place—humidity damages natural fibers.
7. Stain Care
Spot clean by dabbing, never rubbing.
Dabbing lifts the stain. Rubbing pushes it deeper and harms the weave.
8. Fabric Protection
Avoid heavy friction from backpacks, rough chairs, or walls—tweed pills when continuously rubbed.
